A YOUNG group of puppeteers have raised £150 for the Aaron Lewis Foundation.

Energize – made up of teenagers from the Boys and Girls Brigades at Belfairs Methodist Church – use the puppets to perform parodies of well-known songs with Christian-themed lyrics added.

Among those taking part is Alice Clarke, a former Belfairs student who was supported through the Aaron Lewis Award when she went on a mission to Tanzania last year.

She said: “Every year for the last 11 years Energize has written and performed our own Christmas show at the church with 50 per cent of the ticket sales going to a chosen charity. This time we chose the ALF.

“I heard of the charity through one of my teachers at Belfairs and it was a great support for my trip to Tanzania.”

Alice, who now works for PGL at Bawdsey Manor near Ipswich, added: “We saw the ALF as a great charity to support based on the support it gives teenagers like me and the resulting charity work it enables us to do on our trips – almost doubling the effectiveness of our donation.”
