Officials at the Aaron Lewis Foundation have gone potty over a wonderful donation following a marathon.

A cheque for £4,750 was handed over from the funds raised during the 24-hour event in May.

Helen Lewis, from the ALF, said: “We are delighted to receive this money and so thankful to everyone who took part or supported the challenge.

Pro snooker ace Stuart Bingham was among those to join the teams of up to six playing snooker, pool or darts for an entire day in May.

The event also raised money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of Terry Shabi, which both charities receiving the same amount.

Peter Ward, who organised the event, passed his thanks to the players, those who donated prizes, The Earnshaws band, Rayleigh Lanes Snooker Club owner John Smith and all its staff.

He added: “Rayleigh Lanes was literally rocking for 28 hours and we will never forget that experience.”
