Beacon Fundraising Generosity

Over the last 12 months the Foundation has built a fabulous working relationship with the staff, volunteers and residents from The Beacon Homeless Veterans Centre in Catterick, Yorkshire. They first approached us after reading our advert in Gunner Magazine (the magazine of the Royal Artillery) and we were able to visit them while supporting another of our beneficiaries during her 2024 John O’Groats to Lands’ End record breaking wheelchair event. Since then, it has been a real privilege delivering on a number of individual and collective requests for support that have allowed more people to connect with sport and the outdoors for their wellbeing.

A group from The Beacon very kindly came all the way down from Yorkshire for the recent ALF 10s rugby tournament to run a stall selling craft items created by the residents. They presented £486.20 from the day and a 24hr sponsored bike ride and table sale they ran in June this year. They also presented a beautifully hand-crafted wooden Tommie’s statuette with the ALF logo etched into it.

The vital role the Beacon plays in supporting homeless and challenged veterans is perfectly aligned with all that the ALF stands for, and we remain committed to providing more health and welfare enhancing opportunities for all those at The Beacon who need our help. We are extremely grateful to them for their generosity and to all those who make what we do possible.
