The ALF has been able to assist a former serviceman, Karl, to participate in a sponsored walk between Newcastle and Leeds Football Clubs while helping to raise funds and awareness for a men’s suicide prevention charity, Andy’s Man Club.
Karl has completed the event previously and signed up to the 2025 event before his life took a turn for the worse and he found himself in need of support from the Beacon homeless veterans centre in Catterick. Not only did he need to find funds for the remaining entry fees he also needed help with transport, accommodation and walking equipment, all of which the ALF were happy to provide.
In sending us his photos Karl stated ‘I’ve completed the walk and would like to say thank you for the support. I finished it relatively unscathed and that is due to the footwear and equipment you kindly provided.’
It was a real privilege being able to help Karl to attain his goal despite his recent challenges and we were only too happy to follow up on the request for support for him from the dedicated Beacon staff.
