The ALF are delighted to have continued supporting the life-changing work of the Beacon Homeless Veterans Centre in Catterick by providing a branded gazebo for their new ‘Brave the Elements’ outreach and activities programme.
Following the successful completion of Mountain Leader training for Beacon staff member Aiden, and volunteer Trac, the team began exploring ways to get more residents and their impacted families outdoors and active together. The gazebo provides a focal-point and safety base for staff and attendees plus with the activities programme motif, it aims to create a greater sense of teamwork and community for the residents, supporters and families.
In a very unexpected gesture of kindness, the first collective use of the gazebo was for a fundraising event in Catterick where the Beacon team raised a staggering £526.27 which they handed over to the ALF Trustees at the recent ALF 10s rugby tournament in Essex – a wonderful and unexpected contribution.
