A staff member and a volunteer from The Beacon Homeless Veterans Centre in Yorkshire have completed Mountain Leaders (ML) training thanks to funding from the ALF. Aiden and Trac completed the arduous 6-day course to allow them to safely take Beacon residents and staff on more challenging adventurous activities in and around Yorkshire.
Aiden spoke to the Trustees after the course to say: “The ML course has been the best training I have attended since leaving the forces following medical discharge. We completed day and night navigation, steep hill climbing and safe rope working. The Foundation helped by paying for our training and the equipment we needed to attend, and it has inspired me to want to do more with the veterans we work with.”
The ALF Team are delighted that Aiden and Trac have finally been able to complete this vital training and, with the additional group activity equipment provided by the ALF last year, they are now all set to get more residents out and about in the natural environment to help improve their health and welfare.
