Rugby Wheelchair Presented to Royal Navy Veteran Gordon

Article by Julia Harvey

A specialised rugby wheelchair has at last been presented to Royal Navy veteran Gordon.

Although the bespoke chair was delivered for testing some months ago, the Trustees wanted to formally present it to him at the recent ALF Rugby 10s event in front of the many supporters who had made it possible. Gordon, who helped set up and now runs the Cornwall-based Celtic Warriors wheelchair rugby club, travelled to Essex to receive the chair from Barry and Helen Lewis.

In writing to the Trustees after the event he said:

“Once again I would just like to say a massive thank you to ALF for providing me with this chair. The work you guys do for wheelchair rugby and all the veterans makes a massive difference and is greatly appreciated.”

Noting the growing success of the team, especially in attracting injured veterans, the Trustees are in talks with Gordon to provide more chairs and we look forward to reporting on this in the future.
