Legendary Lexi – 5 Weeks to Go

Article by Julia Harvey

ALF beneficiary and fundraiser, Lexi Chambers, is only 5 weeks away from her next incredible World Record event, where she will be travelling from John O’Groats to Lands End in her ALF-supplied, everyday wheelchair.

Lexi has formed a remarkable team of volunteers around her to plan and deliver this highly complex event and ALF Trustee, Steve Fraser, met them again on 22 July at their penultimate meeting in Exeter. They have now raised all the funds required to deliver the event and have sufficient volunteers to cover the key duties along the way (driving, safety and communications). They are now
turning their attention to their rugby club focused outreach and fundraising targets for the ALF and The Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

Lexi has already done a great deal to support the ALF, raising over £3000 during her last event where she gained the World Record for the longest distance travelled in an everyday wheelchair in 12 hours. Aside from raising funds and awareness, her mission is simple:

“To encourage participation in sports with whatever equipment one has, emphasising that expensive gear isn’t a necessity. My journey, despite physical challenges, serves as a testament to overcoming the seemingly impossible. I hope to motivate others to surpass their perceived limitations.”

Team ALF will be in John O’Groats to see Legendary Lexi off on 27 August and we will report on her progress through the website and our other media platforms.
