ALF Team Visit to The Beacon, Catterick

Article by Julia Harvey

Representatives from the ALF visited The Beacon Residential Centre at Catterick on 29 August to meet beneficiaries and staff and look at the work they do to support homeless veterans get back into permanent accommodation and work.
The ALF has so far provided football and walking equipment and met former resident and volunteer Trac, who now runs the outdoor activities programme as well as a wood working shed and allotment on site. Aiden Dephley from the Beacon wellbeing team explained that one resident had stopped drinking and become more focused since being able to start playing football in a team again.

The Beacon very kindly presented a hand-made plaque to the Trustees and offered to attend the ALF 10s tournament in 2025 to sell these and other craft items made by the residents to help raise funds for the ALF on the day.

A wonderful opportunity to visit and see what a difference the ALF can make due to the kindness of its supporters.
