ALF HELPS WITH HOME ADAPTATION FOR SOUTHEND TEEN, JAYDEN

Article by Julia Harvey

The ALF is pleased to have been able to provide a hoist for a seriously ill Southend teenager, Jayden.  The Trustees were approached earlier in the year by Jayden’s mum Diane, who explained that her disabled son had become very seriously ill before Christmas and was in the Royal London Hospital awaiting specialist treatment and then a move to a rehabilitation unit outside of London. Until appropriate adaptations could be completed, he would not be allowed home. A specialist bed was provided thanks to other local support and, after confirming the clinical requirement with the Occupational Therapy team at The Royal London, the ALF was able to fund the ceiling mounted hoist to go over the bed.

In kindly supplying these pictures for us to use, Diane stated in an e-mail to Helen Lewis ‘I can’t thank you enough for helping me. I sincerely mean that. With love Diane and Jayden.’
