Golfers tee off for ALF

Article by Ryan Brown

A GOLF day has raised more than £3,000 for the Aaron Lewis Foundation.

The event organised by Bill Cresswell was held at the Ballards Gore course in Rochford – with cannon fire used to signal the start.

Aaron’s parents Helen and Barry were in attendance as 17 teams took part in the competition on a gloriously sunny day.

It was the third charity golf day that Bill had organised. His son-in-law Peter Mahoney told The Echo: “Bill originally set them up because his granddaughter got leukaemia several years ago.

“She’s in remission now and wants to move on with her life, so this may be the last one. It was a really good and successful day where we raised over £3,000.”

Helen Lewis thanked Bill and the golfers for their efforts. She said: “We are extremely grateful for the money they have raised for the Aaron Lewis Foundation and, as with all donations, we will ensure it goes towards worthwhile causes in the community.”
